Christmas is about…hope

What image do you conjure when you picture the First Christmas? Many people imagine a quaint town, a serene Mary, a handful of cute farm animals and some sweet shepherds. The reality is that Jesus was born at a time of utter desperation for the people of Israel. The Jewish people lived in constant fear, not only of the Roman soldiers occupying their nation, but also of their own ruthless and cruel king. And yet at this time of despair, there came a message of hope to those who remembered the promise God made - THIS is the Messiah you’ve been waiting for….
